High quality CG assets and Flash can do some great things. It looks beautiful, and further investigation reveals it to be simple timeline animated sequences. The water at the bottom ripples, the tavern sign animates and the lights flicker. Some of the other SWFs contain yellow boxes with exclamation marks in them, usually above animated characters. The green boxes represent “Movement Link” and the Aqua Blue boxes are “Hit Masks”. As you can see in the picture below (click it for the full res version) there are differently marked zones. Opening one of these SWF files (from the Assets/Location folder) into Flash Player reveals something interesting. Each location and puzzle in the game is an individual SWF file So this is just investigative guess-work on the most part, but fascinating all the same. Obviously I’m not the developer, Adrian Woods takes credit for that (along with coding he also did voice acting, graphics and animation too!). Some more poking around revealed a really nice game structure that I thought was worth talking about. Something that has gotten bolder as the MCF series has evolved.īeing a curious sort of person I had a poke around the installation directory, and was genuinely surprised to find that the game used hundreds of SWF files. The game itself is good puzzle solving fun, with wonderful hammy acting and FMV that reminded me of old CD-Rom games like 7th Guest. So it was no great shock when we bought the 7th in the series, 13th Skull. The first few were genre defining moments in gaming, and I’m sure made the developers (and Big Fish Games) an awful lot of money in the process. My wife and I have been big fans of the Mystery Case Files games for years.

For example, a powered wheelchair or motorized scooter with an immunity level of 20 V/m should stay at least three feet from a hand-held two-way radio and ten feet from a mobile two-way radio.ģ) Be aware that adding accessories or components, or modifying the powered wheelchair or motorized scooter, may make it more susceptible to interference from radio wave sources. … What can I do to reduce the risk that my powered wheelchair or motorized scooter could be affected by EMI? Here are some precautions that you can take:ġ) Do not turn ON or use hand-held personal communication devices, such as citizens band (CB) radios and cellular phones, while the powered wheelchair or motorized scooter is ON.Ģ) Be aware of nearby transmitters, such as radio or TV stations and aware of hand-held or mobile two-way radios, and try to avoid coming close to them. Some intense sources of EMI can even damage the control system of the powered wheelchair or motorized scooter. Further, it is possible for EMI to unexpectedly release the brakes on a powered wheelchair or cause it to go in unintended directions. The motion can be erratic, with the powered wheelchair or motorized scooter moving by itself or coming to a sudden stop. It would depend on an number of factors, including: the intensity of the radio waves, the construction of the powered wheelchair or motorized scooter, whether it is on level ground or on a slope, and whether it is in motion or still. If my wheelchair or motorized scooter is affected by EMI, what kind of motion should I expect? This is hard to predict. You may use this information to minimize the risk that EMI will affect your powered wheelchair or motorized scooter. The following information summarises what you should know about EMI. You can see in the screenshot how I added two lines in the end of the table where I summed up traffic data. This allows to analyze data as necessary in Excel or Numbers without extra formatting of data in cells. An interesting peculiarity of file’s data format is that on top of easily readable data there’s also ‘raw’ data about number of bytes. You can set interval of recording data into log file, as well as logs rotation. In Triggers section you can set up events when trigger should fire automatically once a specific usage level is reached, as well as the following actions: email notifications, OS X system notification or script launch. For that go to settings and select the device, date and time of counter reset, traffic limit, etc. Peak Hour can notify about traffic consumption. When you point your cursor on window it displays traffic details for the selected period. Following a small analysis it turned out that the problem lies in router’s firmware and I simple closed port 53, after that traffic has stabilized.įrom here you can also open a window with more details on traffic and select the level of details on traffic and data period. Eventually it turned out that router was open externally on 53rd UDP port. Watching the traffic I noticed a suspicious outgoing traffic at practically zero network activity on computer and smartphone. Precisely because of informative menu icon I accidentally managed to reveal a vulnerability in my router’s firmware. Graph’s data format can be set up, you can view in megabits or megabytes per second. When you click it, a new window will open with current graphs depicting data about incoming and outgoing traffic. Once you’ve added the device system menu will show Peak Hour icon with graph and data transfer rate. Once you’ve added the device you will be able to set up additional parameters: graph color, scaling, saving traffic data in CSV, etc. Now you need to select the device and interface, assign name and traffic info parameters. Per the firm’s lawsuit, more than 400 million consumers have PayPal accounts, including 75% of all Americans. PayPal generated total revenues in 2022 exceeding $27 billion, most of it coming from these fees.” In a statement, the attorneys representing the class said: “Consumers end up paying more for all transactions as a result of PayPal’s policies and industry-high rates. “Either way, the price differential would result in consumers paying lower all-in prices,” the lawsuit says.Ĭalling the policies “draconian” and “illegally anticompetitive,” the attorneys compared PayPal’s anti-steering rules to those that Visa and Mastercard used to impose before they were sued by the Department of Justice in 2010. Or, a merchant could maintain the same $5.83 price but provide consumers with a discount when they paid with a method other than PayPal or Venmo. Merchants are also not allowed to present other forms of payment earlier in the checkout process.įor example, the attorneys say that without PayPal’s anti-steering rules, a merchant could charge $5.83 for a box of Kleenex when PayPal is used as the payment method, and less than $5.83 when the consumer paid with credit card or other payment. District Court for the Northern District of California. Merchants also cannot tell customers that other payment methods are more cost-effective or preferred, according to the complaint, which was filed in the U.S. These discounts are treated as a “surcharge” on PayPal transactions and prohibited by PayPal’s anti-steering rules. Specifically, per PayPal’s anti-steering rules, if a retailer accepts PayPal or Venmo payments, they agree not to offer any discounts or inducements to persuade consumers to use other payment options that have a lower cost. The attorneys charge that “if PayPal’s agreements were transparent, consumers would quickly see a price difference between PayPal and Venmo and its competitors.” The suit states that PayPal’s merchant agreements, which all merchants must sign to accept payments via its platform, leads to consumers paying more to make purchases. Specifically, according to an investigation conducted by the firm’s consumer rights attorneys, PayPal has subjected consumers to excess charges when purchasing from online merchants that accept PayPal or Venmo. PayPal has been hit with a class action lawsuit by consumers represented by law firm Hagens Berman alleging that the fintech giant’s anti-steering rules stifle competition against lower-cost payment platforms such as Stripe and Shopify. But as mentioned above, this case is pretty rare today since standards are being upgraded consistently. There might be connection problems with HDMI that lead to an outage of audio and visuals. Because if the existing connection doesn’t fit CP, the DVD you just bought won’t show an image and the show in HDTV won’t either. Whereas not every DVI connection is suitable for copy protection, so you will definitely have to check the descriptions. When we look at audio quality, HDMI is able to play stereo sound and home cinema atmosphere while DVI will entail the need for an additional cable to transmit audio signals.Īlso when using HDMI, anything displayed is subject to copy protection HDCP. Expanding its lead with the ability to carry uncompressed video as well as uncompressed audio. HDMI however might still be the unique connection among several options. The information regarding connection difficulties and wear can seem like a negative point at first, but the quality of the connectors itself, just like the overall quality standards, are consistently adapted and upgraded though. When comparing DVI and HDMI we can quickly see pro’s and con’s, as well as some qualitative differences regarding their application. Since there are graphics cards that have a built-in HDMI output, a sort of HDMI adapter. So if you happen to already use a DVI cable, you will be able to transmit signals via DVI-D or DVI-I to an HDMI input.Įven though HDMI is used mostly in entertainment electronics, you may also find it in the IT sector. Meaning that such signals as digital signals (DVI-D) or analog and digital signals (DVI-I), can be converted to HDMI with the help of an adapter. DVI on the other hand, is upward compatible in most cases. HDMI is backward compatible with DVI, meaning not all HDMI signals can be converted to DVI, not even with adaptors. HDMI is an advancement on DVI, mostly used in consumer electronics and responsible for digitally transferring video and audio data. Which leads us to our next topic: digital transfer via HDMI What is HDMI? Mostly because the expectations in this industry are much higher and continue to grow. Even though there are TVs with a DVI input that can convert signals from digital sources, like a DVD player or a computer, there are different standards in consumer electronics. This receiver again, decodes the data back to a parallel data flow.ĭVI is mainly used in the IT sector as the electronic interface for computers and as a standard for video transmission. Here they are encoded into serial digital data. After that, the data is transferred via cable in a serial data transfer to the monitor, which is equipped with a TMDS receiver. The Digital Visual Interface (DVI) replaces the VGA connection (Video Graphics Array) between the modern monitor and the graphics card.ĭuring the digital DVI transmission, digital color data from the graphics chip gets passed on to a TMDS transmitter in a parallel data flow of 24-bit. So why is there no standard for getting the data from one to the other to prevent any loss of quality?Īnd this is where DVI comes in. To sum it up: the display needs digital data, the graphic card provides digital data. Without the need for converting analog signals first. With the rapid changes to flat screen TVs (LCD or flat panels) the demand for a much more direct way of transferring digital data is growing. Sounds complicated? It is! And a lot of quality gets lost this way. Initially even the modern TFT Displays (flat screen monitors) receive their data this way just to then convert the analog signals back to digital data via an analog to digital converter. Since classic analog monitors of course need analog signals to display anything. Let’s go back to the beginning of the DVI interface, the first to enable optimal quality in digital transfer between graphic card and modern flat screen displays, moving us away from the analog connection.īecause originally a digital to analog converter (which is built into the graphic card these days) converts the digital data from the graphic card to analog data, so it can be transferred to the monitor from an analog connection (VGA). Read more, to find out which cable connection is best for your Digital Signage display. But what is changing in the transfer of video and audio data between players and playback devices and in the requirements for the connector?įrom analog scart connections to digital HDMI transmission, we will show you what you need to know. And it brings with it incredible changes to the AV interface, that make the audio- and video world that much more versatile and sharp. It’s nothing new, that especially in the entertainment industry digitalization shows what it’s got. Many things have changed in the past few years – at breakneck speed! Technology is evolving rapidly – and unstoppable – and with it comes the age of digitalization, playing a major part in all areas of the industry. The two base angles are opposite the marked lines and so, they are equal to each other. This is because all three angles in an isosceles triangle must add to 180°įor example, in the isosceles triangle below, we need to find the missing angle at the top of the triangle. If the missing angle is not opposite a marked side, then add the two angles opposite the marked sides together and subtract this result from 180.If the missing angle is opposite a marked side, then the missing angle is the same as the angle that is opposite the other marked side.To find a missing angle in an isosceles triangle use the following steps: How to Find a Missing Angle in an Isosceles Triangle If we are told that one of these marked angles is 70°, then the other marked angle must also be 70°. The angle at which these two marked sides meet is the odd one out and therefore is different to the other two angles. The two equal angles are opposite to the two equal sides.
